Frequently asked questions
What photo size do government exam forms actually require?
Almost always a range plus exact pixel dimensions — '20 KB to 50 KB, 200 × 230 pixels' is typical. The exact numbers differ per exam and per year, so read them off the official notification, then enter both KB numbers and the pixel size into the upload fixer.
Why does my photo fail at exactly 20 KB?
Because the form has a minimum as well as a maximum. Compress to 'under 20 KB' and you may land at 7 KB — below the floor — and a JPEG cannot be padded back up by compressing again, because shrinking is the only direction compression goes. You need a tool that targets the range from both ends, which is exactly what the fixer here does.
Can I make a passport-style photo at home?
Yes: a phone photo against a plain wall, then the passport/ID photo maker to crop to the official pixel spec and the background whitener if the wall wasn't white enough. Because it all runs in your browser, your face photo is never uploaded to anyone.
