The part that actually gets people rejected

JEE Main and NEET share the same NTA portal and the same KB ranges, but not the same photo rule: NEET accepts colour or black & white, while the JEE Main bulletin says the photograph 'should be in colour'. Candidates applying to both often reuse one file — safe in one direction only (a colour photo works for both; a black & white one does not). And as with every NTA form, the 10 KB floor on the signature is the rejection nobody sees coming.

Our advice (not part of the official spec)

No pixel dimensions or DPI are given — 'passport size' with 80% face coverage is the whole official rule, so treat any exact pixel figure you read elsewhere as a guess. Aim mid-range (80–100 KB photo, 30–50 KB signature) so the portal's own re-encoding can't push you over an edge.

What the notification actually says

“Photograph in JPG/JPEG format (clearly legible) between 10 kb to 200 kb.”

“The recent passport size photograph should be in colour with 80% face (without mask) visible including ears against white background.”

“Signature file should be JPG/JPEG format (clearly legible) between 10 kb to 100 kb.”
