- Compare two PDFsExtract the text from two PDFs and see a word-level diff between them.
Frequently asked questions
Is it safe to use an online tool for a confidential PDF?
It depends entirely on where the processing happens. Most online PDF sites upload your file to their server, run the job there, and hold a copy at least temporarily. Docexp's PDF tools run inside your browser tab — the merge, split, or compression happens on your own device, so a contract or bank statement never leaves it.
Why did my PDF barely shrink when I compressed it?
Because it was already mostly text. Text takes almost no space in a PDF — the bulk is nearly always images. A scanned document compresses dramatically; a text-only report barely at all, because there is little there to remove.
Can I compress a PDF to an exact size, like under 500 KB?
Yes — 'Compress PDF to exact size (KB)' aims at a specific number rather than just 'smaller', which is what portals with hard limits actually require. One trade-off to know: heavy PDF compression re-renders pages as images, so the text in the output stops being selectable.
Is there a limit on how many PDFs I can merge, or how big they can be?
No file-count limit, no size cap, no daily quota. Those limits exist on other sites to ration their servers; the merge here runs on your machine, so the only real ceiling is your device's memory.
