Can you actually tell if a bank statement PDF has been edited?
You can gather evidence. The check reconciles the running balance row by row (edited statements very often don't add up), compares the fonts of the digits (numbers pasted in later are frequently drawn in a subtly different font), and inspects the PDF's metadata for editing-software fingerprints. Every finding is shown with the evidence behind it, so you can re-check it by hand.
Do I have to upload the statement to be checked?
No — the PDF is parsed entirely inside your browser tab. That is the reason this tool exists: a bank statement is one of the most sensitive documents a person owns, and the other fake-statement checkers we know of all require uploading it to their servers.
Does it give a 'fake or genuine' verdict?
